Winslow Fire Department raising money for coats for local children

WINSLOW, Maine (WABI) - As it continues to get colder, many Maine kids don't have proper coats to keep them warm this Winter.

The Winslow Fire Department is doing something about it.

For the first time, they're taking part in Operation Warm, a program to help local kids receive coats.

Winslow Fire has set their goal at $2000 and they've raised about $800 so far.

They say that it's all about helping one another.

"When you can bring the community together, it just creates that bond -- neighbor helping neighbor," says Winslow Fire Chief Ronnie Rodriguez. "This is another example of the family atmosphere that the town of Winslow perpetuates. Very proud of this town, love this community."
