Whitefield woman who beat father with firewood, poker wraps up criminal case

WHITEFIELD, Maine (WABI) - A Whitefield woman who beat her father with firewood and a fire poker has wrapped up the case against her.

21-year-old Briana Rideout pleaded guilty Tuesday to a misdemeanor assault charge after an 18-month deferred sentence.

She initially pleaded guilty to a felony assault charge and was ordered to serve 150 days in jail and comply with certain conditions.

By meeting those conditions, she was allowed to return to court to enter a plea on the lesser crime.

Rideout was arrested in March of 2017 after a sheriff's deputy was called to a hospital in Augusta where a man who'd been badly beaten was being treated.

Authorities say Rideout had been drinking before going to her father's house in Randolph.

We're told the two argued about money before she attacked her dad.
