WATERVILLE, Maine (WABI_ A man from Waterville who gave a deadly dose of fentanyl to a friend will spend the next eight years in prison.
33-year-old Sean Rancourt pleaded guilty last week to aggravated drug trafficking.
Officials say it's believed to be the first time a person's been sent to prison for selling drugs to someone who's died.
Rancourt was arrested in February, three months after 35-year-old Kevin Hubert died in his home in Waterville.
He was found in his bathroom with a syringe in his wastebasket.
Police reviewed text messages and determined Rancourt sold fentanyl to Hubert.
Rancourt was just released last fall after spending more than three years in prison for aggravated criminal mischief.
