WATERVILLE, Maine (WABI) - A Waterville couple initially accused of sexually assaulting three children is now serving time in prison after pleading guilty to lesser charges involving one girl.
36-year-old Jennifer Stevens was sentenced last week to a year-and-a-half in prison.
Her husband, 37-year-old Michael Stevens, was ordered to serve three years.
Jennifer Stevens pleaded guilty to unlawful sexual contact and endangering the welfare of a child.
Michael Stevens entered a Alford plea, meaning he doesn't admit to the crime, but believes there's enough evidence to convict him.
The two were first charged with multiple counts of gross sexual assault involving three children.
Those charges were dismissed after a plea deal.
Prosecutors were not able to pursue the case involving the two other children, who were all under the age of 12.
