Vaccination opt out ban to be on 2020 ballot

AUGUSTA, Maine (WMTW) - Opponents of a new Maine law that prohibits parents from opting out of having their children vaccinated for most non-medical reasons have succeeded in their effort to put a people's veto on the 2020 ballot.

The Secretary of State's Office says organizers gathered enough signatures to force a statewide referendum.

The state has certified the signatures that were turned in last month, and the vote will take place in March during the presidential primary.
