Two religious schools in Bangor celebrate the jewish holiday

We caught up with the participants at Congregation Beth Israel for an annual Hanukkah for Hope party on Sunday.

Organizers say it's a chance to recognize the holiday and practice traditions. It also allows people to come together as a community to help those in need this holiday season.

People could drop off a donation for toys for tots and there was also an area to make blankets.

Rabbi Siemers, Congregation Beth Israel said "People are just so generous. We recognize that this is not a great time of the year for everyone. We just want to reach out and help everyone that we can. That's the meaning of these holidays. To bring brightness into other peoples lives."

The holiday ends at sundown Monday.
