State Police say the trooper who was struck by a car during a high speed chase in central Maine remains in the hospital after having surgery on a broken leg.
Trooper Mickael Nunez was setting up spike strips on Sunday when he was hit.
53-year-old Robert Belmain of Caribou was driving the car that ran into him.
Authorities say Belmain led police on a chase that started in Waterville and ended on Route 3 in China.
Belmain has head injuries and has a string of charges pending against him.
He also remains hospitalized.
