AUGUSTA, Maine (WABI) - The trial of a man who's father died in a May 2017 police-involved shooting got underway Monday in Augusta.
Opening statements were given and a handful of neighbors took the witness stand, as did a sheriff's deputy.
Scott Bubar, 41, is charged with attempted murder and reckless conduct.
He pleaded not guilty to both charges last October.
Police say Bubar shot at officers when they responded to a disturbance at his father Roger's home in Belgrade.
Roger Bubar was killed in the gunfire.
Witnesses gave testimony of hearing and seeing Scott Bubar spinning his tires in the Bubars' yard, then crashing into their mobile home.
And witnesses say, some time after that they heard loud yelling, then subsequently gunshots.
The trial resumes Thursday.
