FARMINGTON, Maine (WABI) - Another day of testimony in the trial of a man from Jay accused of murdering his girlfriend.

Photographs from the scene and police body camera footage were presented in court.

58-year-old James Sweeney is accused of killing 51-year-old Wendy Douglas in July 2017.

He entered an insanity plea, claiming he's not criminally responsible.

Wendy Douglas's boss testified, saying she told him Sweeney once put a gun to his head saying he was going to kill himself.

Her boss testified Wendy said she wasn't scared for her life, only his.

The officer who spent the first several hours with Sweeney after he turned himself in testified he and Sweeney exchanged notes on a pad because of Sweeney's deafness.

He said Sweeney appeared tired, but showed no signs of hallucinations or voices in his head, in contrast with defense claims.

The trial resumes Wednesday.
