Tips on viewing lunar eclipse to be discussed Saturday at Bangor Public Library

BANGOR, Maine (WABI) - A lecture on Saturday in Bangor will give you the chance to learn more about how to view the upcoming total lunar eclipse.

That happens when the earth comes between the sun and the moon and covers the moon with its shadow.

This month, it will take place Sunday the 20th, beginning around 930pm.

Providing weather allows, the full eclipse will be able to be seen here in Maine around twenty minutes to midnight.

"It is a spectacular event, and I do urge folks to get out and take a look. And the nice thing is, you have over an hour of totality. Now, it does happen a little bit later in the evening, you know, towards midnight, and what have you, but the good news is the next day is a holiday, so hopefully most people can sleep in and enjoy it."

You can learn more on Saturday at the Bangor Public Library from 2-3:30.
