South Portland releases report on new fire truck that caught fire

SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine (WMTW) - The city of South Portland released a report Friday afternoon on what led to a new fire truck to catch fire in October.

The report cited three reasons for the incident: Human error, lack of training and the fact that the fire department had no standard operational guidelines when it came to using the equipment.

The $1.1 million ladder truck hit an electrical wire causing one of the tires to burst into flames.

The city is working with its insurance company to determine if the damage is covered and if the truck can be repaired.
