Senior center may soon open in Oakland

OAKLAND, Maine (WABI) - The building that used to be home to the central office of RSU 18 may soon become a senior center if the school board approves the plan.

The building on the Heath Road in Oakland will give area senior citizens a place for programs and activities and a spot to enjoy each other's company.

The Kennebec Journal reports the town will lease the building from the school district until June.

After that they'll re-assess and make further decisions about the lease agreement.

While an official opening date has not been set, the space will be open weekdays from 8:30-3:30.
