Senior Watch: Penquis Foster Grandparents Program

Christine Bessey and Pam Harvey are in for this week's Senior Watch to talk about the Foster Grandparents program through Penquis.

The Foster Grandparent Program, provides tutors and mentors to children who are disadvantaged or have disabilities. Working one-on-one or in groups and serving between 15 and 40 hours a week, Foster Grandparents provide support in schools and other public and non-profit locations.

Volunteers must be 55 years of age or older and meet income guidelines. Foster Grandparents receive a tax-free stipend, mileage reimbursement to and from the volunteer site, pre-service orientation, training and supplemental accident and liability insurance while on duty.
