BANGOR, Maine (WABI) - Today marks 77 years since the attack on Pearl Harbor.
The Bangor Vet Center honored the day by holding an Open House.
Senator Angus King was there, visiting with veterans and thanking them for their service.
He on this important day in history says we must honor those we've lost.
"Just about exactly two years ago I was at Pearl Harbor on a trip involving missile defense and went out to the memorial to the USS Arizona and you think about those people who signed up to put their lives on the line for us, and I think it's important to remember the sacrifice that was made in their behalf and to just recognize the veterans who were such an important part of the life of Maine," said King.
Senator King says he hopes to continue the fight for veterans to get access to affordable healthcare close to home.
