BAR HARBOR, Maine (WABI) - The body of a missing Mount Desert Island man was found Thursday afternoon.

Acadia National Park Officials said the body of 45-year-old Adam Emmett, also known as AJ, was found near Sand Beach and Thunder Hole in Acadia National Park.

It happened around noon.

Search efforts began earlier this week. Emmett was last seen Monday near the Schooner Head Overlook.

Acadia National Park's Christie Anastasia, said, "Initially search efforts focused on the immediate area around the vehicle and there were some dog teams brought in. In addition to that, some boats were put out in the water. Starting Thursday, the search was turned over to the Maine Warden Service and we had a fixed craft airplane in the air doing a search."

Emmett's body was recovered by the Maine Marine Patrol and taken to the Medical Examiner's Office. The investigation continues to determine how he died.
