Registered sex offender released from jail after Florida authorities refuse to extradite

BANGOR, Maine (WABI) Florida authorities say they will not authorize extradition for a Colorado man who had been arrested by Bangor police this week, so he has been released from jail.

Police located 48-year-old Michael Tegge at a Bangor hotel.

He was wanted in both Florida and Nebraska for failing to register as a sex offender.

No word on why Florida authorities refused the extradition.

Police had also charged the hotel manager for not providing a list of guests when asked, but police now say that person acted in compliance with company policy, so the charges have been dropped.
