Police: Richmond woman was killed by her boyfriend who then shot himself

The deaths of a man and woman in Richmond have been ruled a murder-suicide.

46-year-old Kirk Alexander, Jr. and his girlfriend 37-year-old Niomi Mello were found dead Saturday afternoon.

State Police say Alexander shot Mello, then turned the handgun on himself.

Police say the couple's bodies were discovered in the kitchen of their home by Mello's 11-year-old son who then ran to a nearby convenience store for help.

Police say the couple likely died late Friday night or early Saturday morning.
