Police are investigating after a young woman was found dead in Orono Saturday morning and say the state medical examiner's office has begun conducting an autopsy.

They say they found 19-year old Alexie Adams of Orono in a snow bank along Colburn Drive just before 11 Saturday.

We're told a passerby saw the woman lying in the snow and called it in.

Initials reports indicate that Adams was with friends Friday night, visiting multiple locations within the area, and likely became seperated from her friends at some point.

Police say foul play is not suspected, but they believe alcohol was involved.

Police are still trying to determine Adams' activities over the course of the evening.

"We know there's a lot of young people in town and they walk to and from where they're going at night and coming home, and we worry about this type of thing, so this is hard and we've notified the family. It's very difficult for them and it's a tragedy. You know there's no good that comes from this" said Josh Ewing, Orono Police Department.

The cause of death will be determined by the Medical Examiner's Office.

Maine State Police and the Orono Police Department continue to investigate.
