BANGOR, Maine. (WABI) - Reading and lots of it.

That's why folks were handing out free books in Bangor Thursday.

Literacy Volunteers of Bangor teamed up with the Darlings Ice Cream Truck to provide all types of books for kids and adults.

Organizers said this event is a great way to provide books to entire families.

Hannah Boutin, Programming Director of Boys and Girls Club said, “The books that they are getting today are books that some don't have in their homes and everyone knows that literacy and books are how kids learn.”

And that hunger for reading was topped off with free ice cream.
