(WAGM) - With the New Year upon us, many people will be focusing on their physical health.
But health care professionals are encouraging people to also focus on their mental health.
Seasonal stress on top of anxiety and depression can be dangerous and should be treated.
Sarah Ellsworth , psychiatric mental health nurse: "There's availability at emergency departments, there's national suicide hotlines, there's in the state of Maine, there's several hotlines, there's not just one number you can find when you go on the internet, but there's hotlines to just talk to somebody, there's hotlines to talk to somebody if you're in real trouble and need hospitalization, there's a lot of services available, and people need to know that it's not a scary thing to reach out."
If you or someone you know is struggling with mental health issues you can call the maine crisis hotline at 2-1-1 24 hours a day.
