BANGOR, Maine (WABI) - Libraries across the state have launched a brand new service for online access to subscription content, so no matter where you are in Maine, you're always at the library.
The Digital Maine Library is a replacement to the old system, MARVEL.
The site allows Maine residents to easily access thousands of magazines, newspapers, learning materials, and more from their computers at home.
The biggest change is anyone in Maine can access the portal, so Maine visitors can access the material too while they're in the state.
This replacement system has expanded the amount of available content.
Ben Treat, Director of the Bangor Public Library says, "Sometimes people say, 'Oh, these new resources. It's going to mean learning something new, and it's going to be frustrating. I wish we just had the old thing.' We do offer classes on all of these. So, we have a series of classes that are being offered on different resources that we have access to. Those are listed on our website. We also have an open computer lab every Wednesday from 2:00-4:00. So, you can come in and work with a reference librarian with whatever question you have."
