BANGOR, Maine (WABI) - A new online resource for the LGBTQ+ community will launch soon.
OutInMaine is an organization serving Maine's gay community.
We spoke with founder David Burke about the new website.
The gay disabled veteran says when he returned home he discovered a disconnect amongst the gay community, especially in rural areas.
He hopes the website fixes that.
It's a place for gay-friendly churches, schools, businesses and other support and social groups from around the state to come together in one spot.
And he plans to expand it throughout New England.
"I've already purchased out in every New England state. So, I have OutInNewHampshire, OutInMassachusetts, Out in, everything and OutInNewEngland. Starting in two years, I want to bring on another company online each month until all six New England states are covered. It makes me feels so honored to be able to tell the community that there are resources available for them."
The OutInMaine website and social calendar is free.
Businesses can also advertise for free.
There are low-cost premium advertisement options for sale.
