New ice cream shop opens in downtown Millinocket

Listen up, ice cream lovers.

A new shop has opened in downtown Millinocket serving more than 20 flavors of homemade ice cream.

Katahdin Ice Cream shop officially opened its doors at the beginning of the month.

Owners say they community has been hoping for something like this to come into town.

"Everyone that has come in has just been wonderful. It's great. It's time. I can't believe no one has opened an ice cream shop before, so I would say it is pretty positive. We stay busy right up until nine o'clock when we close, so it's been great," said owner, Luisa Surprenant.

The shop is located at 191 Penobscot Avenue.

They're open seven days a week from 7:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
