BANGOR, Maine (WABI) - There was an increase last year in people trying to bring firearms through airport checkpoints in New England.

That's according to the TSA which says Boston's Logan Airport saw the biggest jump with 21 guns discovered, up from 14 in 2017.

Bangor International was the only airport in New England where the numbers went down, from 3 in 2017 to none last year.

There were 4 guns found at the Portland Jetport, up one from 2017.

Nationwide, TSA officials say 86-percent of the firearms found at checkpoints were loaded.
