AUGUSTA, Maine (WABI) - The Navy will name a combat ship in honor of Maine's capital city.

Maine has the most veterans per capita and thousands of workers building and maintaining the Navy's fleet at Bath Iron Works and Portsmouth Naval Shipyard.

This ship is a compact surface warship.

It's designed to provide U.S. forces with access to coastal areas.

This ship is being built in Mobile, Alabama.

It's the second vessel named after our capital city.
