A portion of Waterville is in the process of becoming a whole lot more colorful.

A mural is being painted along the retaining wall behind the Concourse.

The project is a collaboration between the city of Waterville, Waterville Creates!, Happy Trails, and Least of These Ministries.

The goal of the mural is to showcase members of the Waterville community and create a beautiful space people can enjoy and take pride in.

"I think it's a big part of the revitalization of communities now is street art. It kind of goes hand and hand," says Andrew Chapman, lead artist of the mural. "And I think Banksy had a lot to do with that -- at least pushing street art into the fine art realm so that now it's not looked down upon by cities; it's looked at as part of being a revitalization."

Early next month, members of the community will be invited to paint parts of the mural.
