BREWER, Maine. (WABI) - Work on a new large-scale recycling facility in Hampden is moving along according to schedule. So said, Municipal Review Committee's Executive Director Greg Lounder.
The Fiberight solid waste recycling plant is the first full-scale facility of its kind.
When fully operational, it will employ more than 40 people.
It was the primary focus at the Municipal Review Committee's annual meeting, Wednesday afternoon.
Greg Lounder said, "We are on track to begin to accept the recyclables and the MSWs from our member communities in the spring of 2019. During the April, May, June period is when we will seek to ramp up the facility to full service to the region."
Lounder said, it's been in the planning stages for nearly a decade so, it's exciting to see it come together.
