Man who dedicated his life to law enforcement dies after battle with cancer

NEWPORT, Maine (WABI) A law enforcement officer from Penobscot County has died after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

Jamie Kennedy served the community more than 20 years.

He had retired from the Penobscot County Sheriff's Office where he was a corrections officer and patrol deputy.

Most recently he was working for the Newport Police Department.

Kennedy was a graduate of Bucksport High School and is survived by his wife and three sons.
