Man faces charges after police standoff in Bangor

BANGOR, Maine (WABI) - A man involved in a standoff with police in Bangor Wednesday has now been charged.

Police were called to a home in Birch Hill Estates for a report of an altercation in the driveway.

Police say 25-year-old Benjamin McGary of Bangor went into the home with a firearm and threatened violence.

They say the homeowner had a protection order against McGary.

We're told McGary eventually surrendered.

He's charged with violating a protection order.

Police say McGary also had an outstanding warrant regarding several domestic violence crimes

The firearm that police believe McGary had was recovered from the home after his arrest.
