BANGOR, Maine (WABI) - Police say a standoff with a man believed to be armed inside a Bangor home ended safely Wednesday afternoon.
Authorities say around 1, they received a call about an altercation in the driveway of a home in Birch Hill Estates.
According to police, a man who they believe had a protection order against being at that address by the home owner, had gone into the home with a firearm and threatened violence.
Bangor Police surrounded the home and worked to establish contact with the man.
"Treated it as safely as we can," said Sgt. Wade Betters. "We locked down the area and begin negotiations. We even had assistance from our tactical team. They did a fantastic job eventually making contact with the individual. Originally he was not talking with us and they were able to get communication with him, and ultimately he did agree to come out of the residence without a weapon."
The man was arrested without incident.
His identity has not been released.
Police say he was wanted on at least one outstanding warrant.
He will likely face further charges as the investigation continues.
