AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) - Maine is hoping to point more parents to a website connecting them with child care providers.

Maine Public reports that the Maine Department of Health and Human Services is launching a new outreach effort through a new $5.3 million contract.

It's a $700,000 increase over the agency's previous agreement with development group Maine Roads to Quality.

The website provides licensing, rating and curriculum data about providers.

That website had replaced an in-person referral service that once served all Maine counties until budget cuts seven years ago.
