AUGUSTA, Maine (WABI) - The Maine Downtown Center announced its annual awards Wednesday in Augusta.
They recognize people who work hard to revitalize their communities.
Gardiner residents Mike Gent and Cheryl Clark won the Community Impact award for their work in Downtown Gardiner.
The Catalyst Award went to Tobias Parkhurst for his work in Augusta.
"It's really been cool to walk through the doors and go, 'Okay this is what we were hoping was going to happen,'" says Parkhurst. "It's thrilling to see it become a reality. It's cool."
Many of the revitalization efforts create jobs throughout the state.
