Maine CDC reporting 3 new deaths bringing state death toll to 73

AUGUSTA, Maine (WABI) - The CDC Tuesday is reporting three new deaths of individuals with COVID-19.

A woman in her 90's and one in her 80's, as well as a man in his 40's, all from Cumberland County.

This brings the total number of deaths in the state to 73.

According to the CDC there are now 1,741 total cases in the state.

That's an increase of 28 since Monday.

Of those, 1,561 are confirmed and 180 are probable.

County-by-county numbers reveal the largest spike in cases came from Androscoggin County.

There are 12 new cases reported there bringing the total to 151.

11 new cases are being reported in Cumberland County.

The total there is now 863.

York counties cases increased by 5 bringing the total there to 307.

We also got an update on some outbreaks in Maine.

The Springbrook Center in Westbrook is the newest congregate care facility with an outbreak.

30 residents and 11 staff have been infected.

Two individuals have died.

Congregate care facility outbreaks account for 14 and a half percent of total cases.

In total there have been 251 total cases in congregate care facilities and 22 deaths.

Cianbro Corporation has halted work on the site of the Maine Veterans Home.

This comes after 19 workers, 2 of them Mainers the others from out-of-state became infected with COVID 19.

Head of the Maine CDC, Doctor Nirav Shah says they are continuing to investigate this outbreak.

13 staff at Bristol Seafood in Portland have tested positive for coronavirus.

The plant stopped production Monday.

Tyson Foods, also in Portland, had an outbreak earlier this month that infected 55 of their employees.
