A Madison woman has turned a fun idea into a booming business.

"I've been creating, drawing, sewing, just making anything that I could since I could ever remember, as far back as I could ever remember," says Delilah Iris, owner of DelilahIris Designs.

Iris took that creativity and turned it into her felt animals business, DelilahIris Designs.

It all started with her trying to make her daughter's Christmas wish come true.

"My daughter Audrey, she loved Rudolph the Red Nosed reindeer, and she wanted a toy for Christmas so I designed one," says Iris. "I couldn't find any she liked in the store, so I designed it for her."

Flash forward five years and her business has been thriving.

She sells felt animals, downloadable patterns online, as well as do-it-yourself kits with all the pieces and instructions.

Sales come in from not only all over the country, but all over the world.

Iris says that being able to give others the opportunity to create something themselves is extremely rewarding.

"I love that I can share that with somebody else," says Iris. "I mean they can look at these little animals and basically follow the steps and make exactly the same thing."

She says they make great holiday presents and this is her busiest time of the year.

"My whole life pretty much day-in-and-day out since October has been sewing and making kits non-stop from the time I wake up until the time I go to bed," says Iris. "Every day. No days off."
