AUGUSTA, Maine (WABI) - Legislation is being discussed with the goal of helping Mainers with substance abuse disorder find jobs.

Sponsored by Assistant House Majority Leader Ryan Fecteau (D-Biddeford), it would result in a database of businesses that people with substance abuse disorder can use to find employment.

Fecteau says it's important for people recovering to be able to find work.

"The bill essentially creates this avenue for identifying employers that provide a welcoming and supportive environment for employees who are on the road to recovery from substance abuse disorder," said Fecteau.

There will be a work session on the bill next week.
