Layfayette Family Cancer Institute holds annual tree lighting ceremony

BREWER, Maine (WABI) - The Layfayette Family Cancer Institute in Brewer held it's 18th annual Lights of Life Tree Lighting ceremony Thursday evening.

The ceremony is held to honor and remember loved ones who have been affected by or lost to cancer.

Patients, community members, and caregivers gathered to watch the lights come on.

The event also raises money for cancer research.

"All the lights on the tree were purchased by friends by family members by community members in honor or recognition or memory of someone that they lost, " said Northern Light Health Foundation President Mike Smith.
