Lagrange man injured following dump truck rollover in Eddington

EDDINGTON, Maine (WABI) - A Lagrange man is recovering after his dump truck rolled off the road and into a nearby pond.

It happened around 11:30 Monday morning in Eddington.

Authorities say 66-year-old Thomas Stanley was driving on Riverside Drive when he suffered a medical incident, lost control of his truck and went through a utility pole.

Despite the extensive damage to his truck, Stanley only has minor injuries.

After emergency responders were able to pull him out of the truck, Stanley was taken to St. Joseph Hospital in Bangor.

"The only witnesses we had were people that drove up on it," said Deputy John Knappe of the Penobscot County Sheriff's Department. "I mean, he's a very lucky man. You know, accidents happen and that's exactly what this is. It's unfortunate but he's ok and that's really what matters."

Emera Maine workers will remain on scene for the next few hours to fix the damaged pole.

We're told no outages or electrical issues occurred following the crash.

Authorities do not expect any charges to be filed.
