SANGERVILLE, Maine (WABI) - Bryanne Lovell, MS OTR/L and LSVT certified clinician, was in the TV5 studio this morning to talk about the LSVT Big program being offered by Northern Light Rehabilitation at their Sangerville location.
LSVT Big is a research based program for those with Parkinson's disease as well as other neurological disorders. The goal of the program is to help with improving the patient's quality of movements. The program is an intensive program where patients are seen 4times a week for 4 weeks or longer. They are provided with one to one individualized treatment within their hour session and are also expected to complete exercises at home.
The aim is that through this intensive therapy the patient will minimize or slow the progression of their disease's physical effects. The program is for people of all levels, from someone who is newly diagnosed and not yet seeing symptoms to someone who may be restricted to a wheel chair or even their bed.
We can adapt the program to meet their needs. We will help to them to reach their maximal potential of where they are in that moment. If someone is interested in the program they are encouraged to reach out to their Primary Care Physician to see if it would be beneficial for them. Their physician would then be able to send a referral and an evaluation would be set up.
Any questions specific to the LSVT program can be directed to Bryanne Lovell MSOTR/L at our Sangerville location by calling 876-2918.
