BAR HARBOR, Maine (WABI) - The Jackson Laboratory in Bar Harbor has been awarded funding for diabetes research.
The facility will receive a federal grant of more than $400,000.
According to the CDC, diabetes is the seventh leading cause of death in the United States, and 1 in 4 people are not even aware they have it.
Research shows in the last 20 years, the number of adults diagnosed with diabetes has more than tripled.
