Independent candidate for Governor begins journey around the state

BANGOR, Maine (WABI) - Independent candidate for Governor Alan Caron has been barnstorming the state in a motorhome.

Over the course of 60 days, Caron will visit the state's 490 cities and towns to meet with Mainers and talk about his platform.

He says this form of campaigning will allow him to connect with people on a more personal level.

His new campaign slogan "on the road to a new economy," is printed on both sides of the RV.

He started his journey in Fort Kent Thursday morning and made his way through Bangor that afternoon where we caught up with him.

Caron says, "My message is that if you want things to be different, don't do the same things. If you want change, real change, we want to build a 21st century economy, we want to build a smarter more modern government, you can't keep electing these same people who have been saying the same things to us for 30 years."

Caron will post his schedule daily on his website and will regularly stop in public locations to speak with locals.
