BANGOR, Maine (WABI) - Husson University and Southern Maine Community College have signed agreements to ease the process of transferring academic credits.
The president of SMCC and the senior vice president of Husson participated in a signing ceremony Thursday.
The agreement is aimed at students who graduate from SMCC with an associate's degree and wish to pursue a bachelor's degree.
Students who have earned credits in a variety of programs at SMCC can now transfer them to comparable programs at Husson.
Joseph Cassidy, President of Southern Maine Community College said.
"Many of our students are able to start with us and get a couple of years of education under their belt and then matriculate on to Husson University, so it's a great opportunity."
"We currently have one hundred and ten academic programs mapped so that students who are graduating from community colleges can choose to continue their education and work towards a bachelor's degree here at Husson University." said Lynne Coy-Ogan, Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost for Husson University.
Students enrolled at SMCC can contact Husson admissions to plan out their academic path.
