HUDSON, MAINE (WABI) A horse fell through a bridge and then fell on top of a rider in Hudson, according to officials.
The Hudson Fire Department was called to Wilder Davis Road Sunday afternoon. The horse's first hooves fell through a space in the bridge.
While attempting to rescue the horse, it unexpectedly fell over onto the rider.
The rider and a second person suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to the hospital.
A front-loader was brought in to move the horse.
A veterinarian tranquilized the horse so that the animal's hooves could be removed and freed.
The horse suffered minor injuries.
The horse regained consciousness and was loaded onto a horse trailer and the bridge was patched.
