BANGOR, Maine (WABI) - A Home Depot customer helped apprehend a robber in Bangor this afternoon.

It happened a little before 3.

Bangor Police say 34-year-old Jason Phillips ran from the store carrying two cases of power tools when he was stopped by a Game Warden.

That's when a struggle ensued.

"I just came to buy a snowblower and I pulled in and saw a Game Warden talking to a guy and next thing you know, the guy takes off running," said Monty Rand. "So I sped up a little bit, saw there were two other guys in the car there. I jumped out of the truck and ran over and tried to help. Basically just kind of wrestled the guy down to the ground."

Phillips was arrested and charged with robbery, theft, and assault.

Police say he hit the warden in the face.

A second person was arrested by his probation officer. It's not clear what charges he faces.

Phillips is being held at the Penobscot County Jail.
