Maine sees high voter turnout

BANGOR, Maine (WABI) - There was high voter turnout across the state on election day.

In Bangor, the Cross Insurance Center was packed with people voting throughout the day.

Maine Secretary of State Matthew Dunlap traveled to polling sites throughout the state yesterday and he believes the level of voter turnout proves the civic dedication of Mainers.

"This is something that we've known for a long time, that Maine has always been a leader in election turnout every cycle," Dunlap said. "This is certainly evidence to that and I think that we were prepared for this; we understood that we were going to be very busy and that's what we see."

Dunlap also praised volunteers and workers for their hard work at the polls.
