BREWER, Maine (WABI) - Police have taken a man into custody Saturday night.

Officials with the Brewer Police Department said they were looking for a man on Washington Street in Brewer for the Bangor Police Department.

We're told the man had some charges police were looking to arrest him for.

After trying to reach the man on his cellphone, Brewer Police Department's Nelson Ferro was heading up North Main Street when he saw the mans car.

That's when a chase ensued and the man eventually crashed his car on Harlow Street in Brewer.

Ferro said, "I turned around on the vehicle, when I got behind him he instantly started driving erratically, going into the opposite lanes, activated my blue lights, then he took off on me. Luckily no one was hurt."

We're told several charges are expected.

The man was taken to Eastern Maine Medical Center to be evaluated.
