BANGOR, MAINE (WABI) Some familiar faces will be serving up drinks at Geaghan's Pub every Monday night this month.
For the third year in a row, the Bangor pub is hosting its Guest Bartender Night to raise money for Multiple Sclerosis.
Every Monday night in July, from 5 P.M. until 7 p.m., Geaghan's regular bartenders will be joined by a notable local.
Mug Club Member Dale Covey pledged a donation of $200 during a Mug Club Silent Auction to get a chance to be the first guest bartender on Monday, July 3rd.
Rich Kimball of Downtown with Rich Kimball will serve on Monday, July 10th.
Kerrie Tripp, Executive Director of the Greater Bangor Convention and Visitor's Bureau is the guest bartender on July 17th.
Mark Nason from WHSN, NESCOM and Darling's Waterfront Pavilion will serve up drinks on July 24th.
The final Geaghan's guest bartender is Dan Moore, an employee there who started as a dish washer in 1976 and is now helping with the management of Geaghan's 750 personnel.
Money raised goes to EMMC's Comprehensive Multiple Sclerosis Care Program.
"It affects a number of folks we have known through the years as customers," says Larry Geaghan, owner and manager at Geaghan's Pub. "We have some family members who deal with MS on a regular basis. And this is an opportunity to raise some money very locally, we're keeping the money local."
Geaghan's matches the first $1,000 of donations and tips collected by the guest bartenders are added to the total.
A little more than $6,500 has been raised in the last two years.
