Governor Mills has signed into law legislation aimed at ending hunger by 2030.
The law requires state agencies to work together on a comprehensive plan to make sure all Mainers have access to nutritious food.
State officials will report back to the legislature with an initial plan by next February.
Officials say 37% of Mainers struggling with food insecurity do not qualify for public assistance.
