FARMINGTON, Maine (WABI) - A big homecoming celebration was thrown Wednesday in Farmington for Governor-elect Janet Mills.

Mills was born and raised in Farmington.

She is the first ever Maine governor from Franklin county.

Mills says that growing up in Farmington made her who she is today.

"These people taught me my values, these people taught me that you stand up to bullies, these people taught me that you not just talk the talk and you walk the walk," says Mills. "These are the people that taught me you have compassion for one another. We care about one another."

Mills also said that she's in the early process of getting together her transition team.
