AUGUSTA, Maine (WABI) - Governor Mills signed an order Tuesday that will release $15 million in bonds to help seniors with housing.
The bonds were approved by voters more than three years ago but were held up by former Governor Lepage.
$500,000 will go immediately toward ongoing projects.
These include the weatherization of homes and accessibility improvements.
"While the people of Maine authorized this bond 1,169 days ago, today we proudly move forward in our goal of ensuring all Maine citizens and seniors can live safely with dignity and comfort in the homes and communities they love," said Governor Mills.
Mills intends to authorize the sale of the rest of the bonds in June.
