AUGUSTA, Maine (WABI) - Governor Lepage had some words for his successor on this election eve.

He spoke Monday at the State House in support of U.S. Senate candidate Eric Brakey.

Lepage says he wants Shawn Moody to win Tuesday, but has best wishes for whomever wins.

He also made an announcement about his plans post-election.

"I'll be a resident of Florida if Janet Mills wins," says Lepage. "I can promise you that. I'll also be in Florida if Shawn Moody wins, because I'm going to retire and go to Florida. I am done with politics. I've done my 8 years. It's time for somebody else."

Lepage and his wife own a house in Florida, a state he praises for its lack of an income tax.

Lepage says he's also in talks with multiple Florida universities for a teaching position.
